Lori grew up in Colorado and spent much of her childhood traveling in the Rocky Mountains. After getting her degree in Fine Art from Colorado State University in 1978, she began a career in graphic design. Leaving that behind, she re-discovered her love for the natural world, and began a journey to paint the peaceful, unpredictable beauty of the West.
“It seems to me there is a longing in most of us to connect regularly with the natural world, those places that contrast remarkably with concrete, chaos and combustible engines. We can travel to them in person or in spirit, for a day or a minute. No matter how we get there, or for how long we stay, these spectacular settings rarely fail to provide a calming elixir for the soul.
In my paintings, I strive to capture that moment of real beauty, an instant as unique and fleeting as a shaft of light yet as timeless as a canyon. As you view these paintings, I hope you are reminded of a special place that once gave you respite from our high-tech, fast-paced urban environment.”
