Carol creates one of kind fiber art in predominately two
styles. One is pieced contemporary art quilts incorporating hand dyed and
painted fabric. The other consists of works using photographic imagery enhanced
with many layers and colors of free motion stitchery.
Carol’s inspiration comes from many sources, especially from nature.
She is entranced by the color and texture of lichen, by the glorious wildflowers
seen in the mountains and meadows, by the shapes of leaves and by patterns
of light and shadow in the forest.
In 2003 Carol was an artist in residence
at Rocky Mountain National Park. This led to a new
way of seeing, attending
to the fine details of a petal, the shape of a rock, the delicate pattern
of lichen. A new way of working emerged reflected in heavily free-motion
embroidered thread paintings.
By education and profession Carol was a social worker, providing counseling to people for 30 years. She began a new career as a full time artist in 2002. Carol exhibits work, teaches textile arts and accepts commissions.
