Priscilla Cohan moved to Colorado from Northern Michigan in the 1980's. Almost immediately she began working on the Boulder Pearl Street Mall at the Lodestone Gallery. After graduating from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Priscilla worked in cooperative studios. Her favorite was mud-luscious studio in Boulder, where she was a co-founder. Priscilla has divided her time between making art and being an administrator and designer for various arts institutions in Boulder. She worked as gallery installation manager for the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (Boulder Art Center at the time), and at the Boulder Public Library. She now now works part time on art, teaches children's and adult pottery classes at the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Pottery Lab and serves on various arts boards including The Boulder County Arts Alliance, Confluence Community Arts and the Lyons Arts and Humanities Council.
She is involved in a personal study of how to paint and draw on clay and how to translate the fluid qualities of a thrown pot into the lines' forms and color values of a painted portrait or landscape on clay. She uses both medium range porcelain which she decorates with simple line drawings and thrown terra-cotta which is painted with under-glazes.
Priscilla lives above her studio in Lyons, Colorado. Her work is available at the Boulder Arts and Crafts Cooperative, Bluehorse Gallery in Estes Park, and at the Stone Cup Cafe in Lyons.
